Nestled in a stunning green setting in the heart of the Orne region, this estate stretches over 180 hectares of rich pastures and houses impressive breeding and training facilities.

Over the past 25 years, everything has been carefully orchestrated to ensure this racing and breeding operation reaches excellence. Today dedicated to trotters, the estate can easily be converted into a Thoroughbred stud farm as well as a breaking-in, pre-training, and training center adapted for gallopers. It represents a rare and ideal property for investors with high sporting ambitions.

The property extends across the communes of Mardilly and Saint-Evroult de Monfort, between Vimoutiers and Gacé. Deauville is a one-hour drive away via Lisieux. The A28 motorway, just 10 minutes from the stud farm, provides access to Paris in 2 hours and 45 minutes via the A13. The A28 also connects to Le Mans in 1 hour and then to Tours, at the junction with the A10.

Description

Breeding infrastructures

The breeding facilities comprise a purpose-built barn with four stalls opening onto terraced sandy paddocks and six free stalls with direct access to a secure sandy paddock. A dedicated foaling barn offers 14 generously sized stalls for broodmares and two gynecology bars within a specialized insemination suite. Complementing these is a spacious free stall barn with 10 bays designed for optimal broodmare comfort, along with a timber-framed stable featuring 20 boxes and private on-site caretaker accommodations.

Training Facilities

The training facilities comprise a purpose-designed stable complex featuring two barns with accommodation for 28 yearlings. The main training barn includes a row of 12 outdoor boxes, 20 indoor stalls, and a dedicated forage storage area. A timber-framed barn offers a refined preparation and care zone, a stable with 12 boxes, and two well-appointed staff accommodations on the upper floor. The estate further benefits from three professional training tracks: a 1,000 m circular sand track, a 1,000 m figure-eight track, and an uphill straight track, complemented by dedicated riding paths and a six-horse walker.

Accomodations

The estate includes several living spaces:
A timber-framed house
Two renovated houses suitable for the management team
Three apartments for the staff

Pastures

Resting on clay soils over limestone bedrock, the stud’s pastures offer exceptional quality for horse breeding. Dotted with numerous springs, the fields are divided into around sixty plots bordered by hedges and wooden fences. Their size and layout are adapted to the stud’s varied activities, with some paddocks notably including shelters. The pastures are accessible via well-maintained drivable paths.

The epic journey of the Quick Star Stable

The Haras de Mardilly is home to the renowned Quick Star Stable, founded in 1998 by Philippe Delon. Over time, he has tirelessly worked to develop the estate and improve the quality of his broodmares as well as his breeding and training system. In nearly 25 years, close to 760 winners have been bred and trained at Mardilly, including 15 Group 1 winners and numerous Group 2 and 3 victors in both mounted and harness trotting. In 2015, the stable reached its pinnacle thanks to Up And Quick, who claimed the Prix d’Amérique, the most prestigious harness trotting race in the world. Champions like Save The Quick, Unique Quick, and Tango Quick, to name just a few, have also proudly carried the brown and sky-blue colors of Philippe Delon at the highest level.
